We are looking to enhance our dedicated team through the appointment of a lunchtime supervisor/play leader. The role of a lunchtime supervisor/playleader can really help to improve children’s enjoyment of lunchtime by organising and leading play opportunities that successfully engage children in physical activity, team games and imaginative play.
At Lowther, we strive to make lunchtime a fun, exciting and stimulating time for our pupils with activities including football, rounders, fitness trails, traditional playground games, skipping etc.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
Helping in the lunch hall for part of the lunch hour, supervising and helping the children, encouraging the use of good table manners;
To keep children safe and active at lunchtime;
To promote outdoor active play;
To promote good behaviour and the social and emotional development of pupils;
To work productively as part of a team;
To help supervise pupils indoors if the weather prevents outdoor play
Enthusiasm and a desire to work with pupils of this age range (4-11)
A caring nature
Shows working awareness of basic health, hygiene and safety issues
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team, communicating positively with colleagues, developing a team approach
Willingness to attend training as appropriate
Have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and a positive approach to working with any pupil who displays negative behaviour (encouraging children to resolve their disputes)
Commitment to Safeguarding children and willingness to adhere to the school’s safeguarding procedures
Experience of working with children
A commitment to outdoor learning which includes setting up outdoor play environments and facilitator of active play
Great communication skills
First Aid Qualifications – we can organise training
Knowledge of the school aims and overarching ethos

The position is five days a week, Monday to Friday from 11.15am to 1.45pm (term time only) and includes helping set up the lunch hall and help in the kitchen to clear up as well as the above responsibilities.
