    All posts involving direct contact with children are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 and the successful applicant will be required to hold or undergo a suitable enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service disclosure.  However, amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020)) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are considered 'protected'.  This means that they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account.  Guidance about whether a conviction or caution should be disclosed can be found on the Ministry of Justice website or Unlock.org.uk.

    Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a criminal record and other sanctions self-disclosure form to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered or protected, prohibitions and disqualifications, to be returned to the school prior to the date of the interview.  You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process.  If your application is successful, this criminal record self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed. 

    In addition to the above, as part of our due diligence checks, the school reserves the right to carry out an online search on shortlisted candidates.  This will only include a search for information which is publicly available online.

    Clerk to the Governors

    The Governing Board of Lowther Endowed School & Little VIPs Day Care wish to appoint a high-quality Clerk to provide the Governing Board and its committees with administrative support and guidance. The successful candidate will advise the Governing Board on governance, procedural and constitutional matters; manage memberships; administer meetings; maintain appropriate records and manage information, in line with relevant legislation, guidance and best practice.

    They will be reliable, flexible and able to attend meetings of the Governing Board and its committees held during the term time in the evenings.

    Bank/Supply Childcare Practitioner

    Little VIPs at Lowther Endowed School is looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and caring Childcare Practitioners to join our vibrant early years team. Based in the beautiful Eden Valley, our setting is proud to offer a nurturing, child-centred environment.

    About the Role:

    As a bank/supply Childcare Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding early years education and care. You will plan and implement engaging activities, promote a safe and stimulating environment, and work in close partnership with parents and staff to support each child’s development.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide high-quality care and education for children aged from 9 months – 5 years
    • Observe, assess, and plan activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
    • Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
    • Maintain accurate records of children’s development and progress
    • Ensure the setting meets all safeguarding and health & safety requirements

    Requirements:

    • A full and relevant Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification (essential)
    • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting
    • Strong knowledge of the EYFS and child development
    • A warm, nurturing approach and a genuine passion for working with young children
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • As with all such positions, this post is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, and compliance with Safer Recruitment guidance.
