Our Climate Action Plan sets out a clear and ambitious approach to preparing our school community for the challenges of climate change, while taking meaningful action to reduce our environmental impact. Our plan takes a whole-school approach, combining education, operational change and community engagement. We are committed to supporting staff through training and professional development, embedding sustainability into our policies and curriculum, and working in partnership with organisations and the wider community.

Key Areas of Focus

Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency
We are working to reduce our carbon footprint by improving energy efficiency, monitoring emissions and taking practical steps such as using renewable energy, reducing waste and promoting sustainable travel.

Adaptation and Resilience
We are preparing our school for the impacts of climate change by assessing risks such as extreme weather, improving building resilience and ensuring effective emergency planning.

Biodiversity and Green Spaces
We aim to enhance our school environment by increasing biodiversity, developing outdoor learning spaces and helping pupils build a stronger connection with nature.

Climate Education and Green Futures
Sustainability is embedded across our curriculum to ensure pupils gain a deep understanding of climate change and are inspired to explore future careers in the growing green economy. Staff are supported through training to deliver this effectively and confidently.

A key strength of our plan is its focus on people. We support pupils in understanding climate change, expressing their ideas and taking action. We also recognise the importance of wellbeing, helping children and staff manage eco-anxiety in a positive and constructive way.
