Admission Arrangements - come on in!

Are you looking for the perfect primary school for your child?! Look no further! Lowther Endowed School have places available in all year groups this year and we look forward to welcoming our new Reception children in September 2024. Lowther Endowed School is its own admissions authority which means that the governing body decide the criteria for admission and are the body which admits pupils to the school.  Westmorland and Furness co-ordinate admissions on our behalf to ensure that every parent has access and places are offered fairly and in line with the Admissions Code.

Applying for a school place in Reception Class for September 2024

Children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 are due to start school in September 2024.  The closing date for submitting applications is 15 January 2024.

 

Westmorland and Furness Council co-ordinate admissions on our behalf and they have an online and paper admissions process.  Details of how to apply can be found at:

In-Year Admissions

If you are wanting a school place outside of the normal admissions round, ie a place in Years 1-6 starting in September or at any point in the year, then please contact us directly using admin@lowther.cumbria.sch.uk Westmorland and Furness do not co-ordinate in-year admissions.

 

We welcome children in all classes and will work with parents to ensure that an appropriate start date is agreed which will support your child to settle in.

Appeals

Every parent has a right of appeal against a decision made relating to school places.

If you wish for your child to start school at Lowther and you have not been offered a place then please contact us and we will guide you through the appeal process.

 

Please lodge an appeal as soon as possible after receiving your offer letter.  We would prefer that you appeal within 25 days from the date of notification that your application was unsuccessful, however we will consider appeals after that date.  We will aim to arrange appeals within 15 working days of receipt of your appeal and we will give you sufficient notice to submit additional evidence should you require it.  We will always give you at least 10 school days' notice of an appeal hearing and we will let you know the outcome as soon as possible following the appeal and within 5 school days where possible.
