Welcome to Otters,
We have 19 children in Otters and we are a mixed Year 3 and 4 Class. Mrs Thomas teaches us on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, whilst Ms Thwaites teaches us on Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesday afternoons we have I.T and R.E. with Mrs Tickner. During the day Mrs. Gill supports the class in numeracy work and Mrs Pinkerton helps during literacy lessons. We really enjoy working hard and enthusiastically but we also like having great fun, linking our topic to all areas of the curriculum.
We work hard and play hard.
Our newly-painted classroom is organised so that everybody has a job and responsibility to look after the class environment.
Our main priority is to work hard as a team and ensure the classroom is a lovely working environment where we can aim to succeed with our work, learning and progress. You can also look at our Facebook page for updates, where you can see exactly what we have been up to during our fantastic year together.
Autumn Term Topic
This term our topic is 'Ancient Egypt.' Please have a look at the topic plan below for more information.
P.E. will be on Mondays and Fridays. In this term, our Monday session will be led by Keith Robinson from Newcastle Falcons and during our Friday lessons we will be working with Lee from Action Ants.
Please come to school in complete outdoor school P.E. kit - yellow / white T-shirts, blue or black shorts, trainers and a tracksuit. Please ensure long hair is tied back and earrings are removed or covered with tape.
Our homework includes:
Reading - Set daily. Read every day at home for 5 - 10 minutes. It is still very important to read to an adult at least four times a week. When you read, complete your reading record. Each week reading records will be checked, if you have four entries or more in your reading record, you to be entered into the 'Reading Raffle' giving you the chance to win a lovely book of your choice.
Spellings - Set weekly.
Maths - Practise the timetables set on Times Table Rockstars...
Home learning - Set once every half term via google classroom. Usually the activities set in our Home Learning will be linked to our topic.
Talk for Writing - Set when literacy work requires - children will need to talk about their writing to generate ideas and vocabulary for work in the classroom.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Mrs Thomas or Ms Thwaites, or contact us via email email@example.com firstname.lastname@example.org
