Hello and welcome to Otters,
We have 20 children in Otters and we are a mixed Year 3 and 4 Class. Currently, Ms Thwates is our teacher and she teaches us everyday except on a Wednesday afternoon when Mr. French from Action Ants teaches us for P.E and Mrs. Gill teaches us PSHE. During the day Mrs. Gill supports the class in numeracy work and Miss. Tickner helps during literacy lessons. We really enjoy working hard and enthusiastically but we also like having great fun, linking our topic to all areas of the curriculum.
We 'work hard and play hard.'
Our classroom is organised so that everybody has a job and responsibility to look after the class environment. We have decided that being good isn't good enough, so instead...
'we aren't good...we are amazing.'
Our main priority is to work hard as a team and ensure the classroom is a lovely working environment where we can aim to succeed with our work, learning and progress. You can also look at our Facebook page for updates, where you can see just how hard we work.
Spring Term Topic
This term our topic is 'Earthquakes and Volcanoes.' Please have a look at the topic plan below for more information.
On Wednesday afternoon, we have Mr. French from Action Ants and we will be learning tennis. Ms Thwaites will be teaching netball on a Tuesday afternoon. After half term, Mr French will be teaching lacrosse on a Wednesday afternoon and we will also be doing football on a Tuesday afternoon with Ms Thwaites.
Please wear your PE kit to school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this term. Yellow T shirt, blue shorts and trainers should be worn but I always encourage tracksuit bottoms and jumpers, it is much better to keep your muscles warm and enjoy the sport you are taking part in rather than getting cold. Also, can I ask for earrings to be taken out for these two days or easily removable before PE lessons please.
Our homework this term includes spellings. You will receive new spellings for the half term in the form of a list backed on green card. You will also begin to receive spelling and maths homework via google classroom. These will be set on a Monday, to be completed by the following Monday. If you need any help with this, please do email Ms Thwaites at email@example.com. Although this sounds like we are very busy at home, remember that we have a full week to complete all our work, it is important to be proactive and manage our time.
We try to read every night and also realise it is still very important to read to an adult at least four times a week, this enables you to be entered into the 'Reading Raffle' giving you the chance to win a lovely book of your choice.
Home learning is also sent home once every half term. This is where we either complete a project about our topic or complete additional numeracy or literacy work.
We hope you enjoy looking at our page, finding out about what we are up to and discovering just how amazing we all are in Otters!
