Welcome to Ladybird Class
We are a class of 18 Year 2 children and our teacher is Miss Cowin; Miss Auty is our Teaching Assistant every morning except a Wednesday and Friday.
We have a colourful classroom and our teacher displays our work for everyone to see! We are very lucky to have so many lovely areas to work in; including the sand, water, craft, construction, role-play, book and quiet area.
Also we have access to working in a lovely outdoor area. We are all very lucky to have such a fabulous area and we try to use it as much as possible. We have a big wildlife area where we make dens, look for minibeasts, and make up games to play.
Our Spring topic is 'Toys and Seasons.' In Literacy we will be reading and writing instructions, stories with familiar settings, recounts, stories involving fantasy and poetry using senses and humour. In Numeracy we will be learning calculations, multiplication facts, shape work and also fractions.
For this term, PE will be on a Tuesday morning with Mr French and Wednesday morning with Bianca from the Sport Partnership. During the week we are also trying very hard to achieve our '100 Mile Challenge.' We are trying to run at least twice a week and we are becoming much faster and fitter! We need our PE kit in school; consisting of a yellow t-shirt, blue shorts, trainers / pumps and a tracksuit for warmth outside. Long hair must be tied back and earrings removed or covered with tape. Our teacher say that it’s important that we have our names in our kits and our uniforms.
Our learning doesn’t stop in school. On a Tuesday we get our phonics homework and common exception words and on a Thursday we get our Numeracy homework. We are also encouraged to read at least 3 times a week at home and our books are changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
