Welcome to Class 4’s page. We are a mixed year 5 and 6 class. Mr Mason teaches the majority of the time; Mrs Thomas teaches the class on Wednesday afternoons. The teachers are helped by their assistant, Mrs Holliday. There are 27 children in class 4 and they realise that good learning is the result of listening carefully, trying their best and having fun. We are all looking forward to having a fantastic year together.
Our topic for the Summer term is Cities. This will form the basis for much of our artwork and some of our literacy work. We also have a really exciting trip to Liverpool to look forward to - we will be visiting a synagogue, the Museum of Liverpool and The Beatles Story amongst other activities.
This half-term we will mainly have PE on a Friday (athletics), however, there will be occasions when we will run a mile as part of our hundred mile challenge. Therefore, complete outdoor P.E. kit is required each day - white or yellow T-shirts, blue or black shorts, trainers and a tracksuit. Please ensure long hair is tied back and earrings are removed or covered with tape.
Homework, in the form of literacy, maths and spellings, will be given each week. Each piece should take around 20 minutes, although some children often spend longer due to their enjoyment of creating a detailed piece of work. Homework will be given out on a Monday and expected to be handed in by Friday at the latest.
Children are instructed to read every night and record it in their reading logs. They should aim to write at least 3 comments a week. Reading logs are to be handed in every Friday morning to be checked by Mr Mason and team points will be given for detailed comments.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Mr Mason.
